Introduction to the COMPASS

The COMPASS is a standardized achievement test that measures your academic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. COMPASS or Computerized Placement Test (CPT), as it is sometimes referred, was developed by ACT with the help of committees of college professors, extensive literature review, and pilot tests. By assessing your ability levels, the COMPASS helps to determine the reading, writing, and mathematics courses most appropriate for you as you enter college.

This online course is designed around the content objectives of the COMPASS. The instruction sections and sample tests directly relate to the information provided by ACT's Web site, www.act.com. Although this course is complete in terms of test preparation, there is an obvious need for prior completion of high school course work upon which the COMPASS depends.
