Introduction to Accuplacer Mathematics

It is important for you to determine which math sections will be tested at your institution: Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, College Level Mathematics. Some schools test only Elementary Algebra skills while others may test all three areas. For example, your school may require you to take the Arithmetic test and give you the option of taking the Elementary Algebra and College Level Math tests. If you decline the option to take the higher level math tests, you may be required to enroll in a basic algebra or equivalent course.

Regardless of your school's requirements, you will benefit from advance instruction and practice.

It is suggested that you first familiarize yourself with the math skill areas and the examples given in each sub-section. Then try the first of the sample math tests within that section.

The answers that are given at the end of each test will clearly show how well you understand the material and what must be learned to score well on the actual Accuplacer. Use these explanations to plan further study and improvement. Then try another sample test, review the answers, and improve the likelihood of an improved score on any test in the future.

With mulitple sample tests in this course, a cycle of testing, reviewing, and improving can be repeated. Each cycle will improve your ability to pass each succeeding test.

The menu at the left can be used to select portions of each skill area, go to a sample test, return to the Main Menu, or sign out. If you want to see all of the content tested on the math test, use the Next button at the bottom of the screens to access each page in the sequence.
