The Part B: Constructed-Response questions will require you to demonstrate your knowledge of reading analysis and application. You will be presented with three scenarios followed by a number of tasks that require you to respond with a short answer. The RVE does not require formal essays, so you should use techniques that allow you to communicate information efficiently and clearly. The Analysis and Application section of this program will provide guidance on how to most effectively approach the constructed-response questions.

The constructed-response assignments present a special problem in preparing for the official test. You will not know the questions that will be presented. Your best preparation is to write 200-400 words on a variety of subjects related to the analysis and application of reading. Three sample scenarios are provided in this program. You will begin to get an idea of the required length and the amount of time needed to complete them. If possible, have someone else read some of your responses and make comments on them.
